Keeping it Fresh – Airwick Review & Giveaway!

    Airwick Home Fragrances Giveaway

How’s your house smelling lately? It’s the end of winter, the kids have been cooped up for the last few months and you’ve got a dog, a cat and you use cloth nappies.  Oh, wait, is that just us?!  Thankfully, it’s spring now in Melbourne, and the sun is starting to hang around a bit more and the kids are able to get on outside.  And the nappies and the washing can actually go outside on the line – woo!!!  Because let me tell you, sometimes I come back to the house after being out somewhere and I think – does the house really smell like that?!  Now, I’ve got a pretty sensitive nose to scent, good and bad.  But man, sometimes I really hope noone drops in unannounced.  That pervasive smell of damp clothes drying over the heat vent (constantly!), a nappy bucket, that is emptied regularly but still, and litter tray sometimes just becomes a little too noticeable.

So when I was offered the chance to review and giveaway some new home fragrance products from Airwick,  my first thought was, how did she know and secondly, yes, dear lord yes!  And there is a giveaway for you my lovely readers!  Sweet.

Airwick Giveaway on Tully and Mishka

The little package of goodies that I got to review and you will have a chance to win includes products from Airwick’s new Life Scents Collection – scented candle, plugins and room spray.  Now, we don’t often use plug in air fresheners, and at first I thought it was going to be too strong, and maybe irritate the Mister’s hay fever.  However, I’ve had it going in the laundry, on the low setting and it’s lovely.  And now, when I’ve been out of the house, when I return the smell is much nicer!  We’ve liked the Winter Moments scent, and I really like the Mystical Garden room spray.  It’s quite lovely.  Click through the link to read a little more about this new collection, and the different scents they have.  There’ll be one you like for sure!

    HomeHello House Cleaning Giveaway!

This giveaway is bought to you by HomeHello.

*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED – THE WINNER IS AMY A!  CONGRATULATIONS, AN EMAIL IS HEADING YOUR WAY!*

    HomeHello Giveaway

Right then people, it’s giveaway time!  In fact, it’s a HomeHello House Cleaning giveaway!  Now, I don’t know about you, but I often dream of the time when I might be able to pay for someone to clean the house.  Oh, to not have to clean the bathroom.  That would be so awesome!

So when the good people at HomeHello contacted me to offer one of my readers a three hour house cleaning voucher, how could I say no?!  Have you heard of them?  They are Melbourne and Sydney metro based and have an awesome website where you can easily book and pay for their services.  The website lets you specify how many rooms you need done, extra cleaning required, and dates and times.  It also estimates how many hours you would require, depending on what you need done.  Too easy!

I know several friends who have started employing a house cleaner, and man, has it made things run smoother for them.  It helps them in terms of the house being clean, obvisously, but also takes away some of that stress the housework can cause.  You know, between you and your partner, the kids, the pets……  And gives them more time to do other stuff that needs doing.

So if you have been considering a cleaner, this could be your chance to try it out – three hours free!!  Like I said, they’re Melbourne and Sydney metro based, so unfortunately if you are outside that area, the prize can’t be used.  But refer some friends!  They might win and buy you a bottle of wine if they do!!*

It’s easy – simply fill in the rafflecopter form below AND don’t forget to leave a blog post comment HERE.  On this page.  That is the only mandatory thing.  Comment telling us the messiest thing you’ve had to clean up in your house and The Mister will choose the one that he likes best (I will remove identifying info and then let him see the answers).

*Please note, I have no control over your friends.  They may not buy you a bottle of wine for referring them to this giveaway.

    Spring time in Melbourne

Spring Time in Melbourne Tulip Festival

Lovely time of year, hey?  Sunshine, green, getting out of the house.  I think I appreciate the arrival of spring more than I ever did before, now that I have two toddlers.  Who have boundless energy, that never ceases, whether they have slept or not.  Whether they have eaten, or not.

Spring has bought some much needed vitamin D, lots more outside play and a long awaited back yard overhaul.  The Mister has spent the last few weekends pulling down sheds, ripping up poorly located garden beds and pulling out rocks.  Loads and loads of volcanic/honeycomb rocks.  That have been used as borders, and have been concreted in.  Why?  WHY?!!  Anyway, we now have loads more space for the kids to run, and for veggie patches to be laid.  The kids are loving it.

    Tulip Festival Melbourne

We also got to attend the annual Tulip Festival, thanks to me winning a pass from Jody at Six Little Hearts!  Have you seen her blog?  You should check it out, she is always having amazing giveaways over there!

Ms 3Little MrWe went on Sunday, the windiest day for a long time.  But despite the wind whipping red dust everywhere, it was beautiful and the kids had a great time.  My recommendation if you are going – get there as early as you can.  I think the gates open at 10.  We got there at around 10.30, and got a park.  When we left about two hours later, the parks were full and cars were parked up to a kilometre away, at least.  There are no footpaths along that road, which makes pushing prams tricky.  And the traffic was full on.  It’s normally a fairly quiet country road.  I know, I grew up there!! Also, hats and sunscreen – there is no shade when you are walking through the tulips. But there is lovely shade and chairs up where the food/cafe area is.  And don’t forget to check out the Fairy Hollow if you go.  Ms 3 LOVED it!

Spring has also bought the engagement of two lovely friends of ours – so exciting!!  So we’re loving Spring time in Melbourne at the moment.  Sunshine, outdoors stuff and love.  What more could we want?  🙂  Tell me, what has the Spring bought to your life this year?

    Change

Change is coming to our house and we are excited!  My husband finishes up at his current employment today and after the Easter weekend, will be going back to work with a previous employer and good friend.  The best bit about this?  He gets to work a couple of days a week at home!  Yay!!

I really think this is going to be fantastic opportunity for our little family.  He will get to spend a lot more time with our Little Miss – in the mornings, evenings and at lunch time.  It is a shift toward the lifestyle that we would love to build for our family.  Obviously working from home will require discipline from both of us – he will need to do his work and I will need to let him!

And let’s hope a change is as good as a holiday, because we won’t be able to do that for a while, with him starting the new job next Tuesday!

    What a year.

Right – what an amazing year it’s been for us.  But clearly, blogging has not been high on the priority list!  I intend for that change from now on!

Brief run down of the year and my broad plan for this blog:

We moved to the beautiful, green outer eastern suburbs and are loving it – I intend to share pictures and posts of how we are slowly changing our new house to become our new home.

I gave birth to our amazing, beautiful and gorgeous little girl.  Awe inspiring.  Hard.  Scary. Wonderful.  I plan to blog about many parenting inspired things – birthing, changes to relationships, to self, the fun, the hard, the good, the unexpected.

Frugal or budget smart living – I’m not great at this, but I plan to throw myself in to it this year – the overall goal for us being that I don’t go back to work for as long as we can manage!  This has already begun with us having a detailed budget, growing and preserving food, looking at making our own foods like yoghurt and breads and considering getting some chooks!  We are keen to live as sustainably and ethically as possible, but know this will entail changing how we currently live.  We’ll see how it goes…….

I am also learning to sew – inspired by my mother, a close friend and many blogs I am really quite keen on developing this skill.  I would love to eventually earn some money from sewing but we’ll see.

My other goal is to develop my blogging skills – to both challenge myself and for the sake of anyone who stumbles across this blog!!!

I am going to aim for two posts a week as a minimum.  Let’s see how it goes!!
