So it seems that sometimes, the universe sends you things you need. Little things, big things, important, not so important. Recently, the universe sent a little, but very useful thing to me by way of a chance to review AND giveaway some new “On-The-Go” Travel products by Dreambaby®. Now, this has been very useful for me because since we got our current car, I have not had a big enough sun shade for the back windows, and the new range includes The Dreambaby® Adjusta-Car Shade® Stretch-It, Shape-It, Fit-It™ and the Dreambaby® Insta-Cling™ Car Shades. Sweet! And just in time, I received the products to review just before we took off for our little Cup Weekend getaway. Road trip sun shades sorted!
Did you go away for the Cup Weekend? We go away every year with a group of four other families – chaos and madness! But super fun. We all pack up and travel off to a Big 4 somewhere in Victoria and hang out for five days. This was our fifth year, and the tradition is going strong. Such a fun way to catch up with friends that we don’t get to see as often as we’d like. Lots of jumping pillows, swimming, usually rain and wine. Lots of wine!
Now to the products. Firstly, the Dreambaby® Adjusta-Car Shade® Stretch-It, Shape-It, Fit-It™. This is perfect for our car – we have a bigger, suv type, and this just stretches right to all the corners. Which is great for Ms 4, because she is at that stage where she is VERY particular about things. Like the sun touching her at all when she is in the car! It was easy to use, it sticks right on with big suction cups that don’t pop off easily, ie when little hands are trying! (RRP $19.95 two pack).
The second one we got to try, was the Dreambaby® Insta-Cling™ Car Shades. The static cling shade just attaches to the window, you just smooth it on and there you go! There is no need for suction cups, and it doesn’t affect any tinting surface that may be on the window already. Really easy to use, and it’s stayed on for a couple of weeks now. Hasn’t fallen off and it’s great for Mr 2 – he can’t reach the window, so he can’t pull anything off!! These have UPF 50+ sun protection, the mesh screen can help to reduce glare on sunny days and they simply fold away into a compact, easy-to-store, re-usable bag. (RRP $11.95).
Are you starting to think about the Christmas and Summer holidays? Any road trips coming up? Then get your fingers clicking and enter toot sweet! These have just been fabulous for us, and the kids have been much happier in the car, without the sun annoying them. To enter, check out the options on the little app below – please consider sharing with your social media pals as well – it’s good karma!
Our dishwasher is broken. It’s not completely broken, but it’s on it’s way out. It chugs away bravely, and noisily, doing it’s best to clean the plates and bowls and endless plastic cups that end up in it, but we both know it’s nearly over.
When we moved in, the previous owner, an older woman, proudly pointed out that she really didn’t use the dishwasher. This was either a lie or she was a crazy person because WHY?! And it had clearly been used – things were well worn, in this old dishwasher. I have never really had a house with a dishwasher until now. I was so thrilled that there was one when we bought this house. I know, small things. Then it started to leak. Not all the time at first, but then we ended up needing a tea towel at the base, all the time. Eventually, this became intolerable and The Mister replaced the seal. So easily fixed and it was fabulous! No more leaking dishwasher.
I had noticed that it wasn’t really cleaning that well, but then figured, if half the water was leaking out it probably wasn’t able to. The new seal will have fixed it, I thought confidently. And wrongly. It’s had clean outs and filter cleans and The Mister has removed and cleaned out the arms. Each time it was a little better, then no good really. Apart from things on the top rack. Apparently the arm under that rack appears to be ok. It’s the bottom arm that is capput.
Then the door hinge broke. One day it obviously decided it had had enough. So now, it’s also slightly dangerous, particularly if you are 4 or 2, like half the members of our household. Because a dishwasher door with no working hinge is HEAVY. It regularly bangs down, hard, when someone who doesn’t know or forgets, goes to open it.
This fills me with dread. Even half working it’s better than being elbow deep in the sink ALL FREAKING DAY! I keep persisting, stacking as much onto the top shelf as I can and sparsely filling the bottom. That sometimes helps. You know what also helps? Using good quality powder. I’ve always thought it was all much the same. WRONG. I was offered the chance to sample a packet of finish powerball quantum max tablets. Yeah, they clean sooooo much better than the cheaper stuff I was using. Even with my broken and struggling dishwasher, everything was clean. Even the glasses were actually clean and not cloudy. I need to not be cheap. Also, a new dishwasher wouldn’t hurt. Sponsors anyone??!!!
Do you reckon you’d like to win a packet of these little beauties? Then get you to the widget and comment on this blog post telling me just what does your dishwasher mean to you? Remember, it’s a game of skill, not chance and the most creative answer wins! Australian Residents Only.
How’s your house smelling lately? It’s the end of winter, the kids have been cooped up for the last few months and you’ve got a dog, a cat and you use cloth nappies. Oh, wait, is that just us?! Thankfully, it’s spring now in Melbourne, and the sun is starting to hang around a bit more and the kids are able to get on outside. And the nappies and the washing can actually go outside on the line – woo!!! Because let me tell you, sometimes I come back to the house after being out somewhere and I think – does the house really smell like that?! Now, I’ve got a pretty sensitive nose to scent, good and bad. But man, sometimes I really hope noone drops in unannounced. That pervasive smell of damp clothes drying over the heat vent (constantly!), a nappy bucket, that is emptied regularly but still, and litter tray sometimes just becomes a little too noticeable.
So when I was offered the chance to review and giveaway some new home fragrance products from Airwick, my first thought was, how did she know and secondly, yes, dear lord yes! And there is a giveaway for you my lovely readers! Sweet.
The little package of goodies that I got to review and you will have a chance to win includes products from Airwick’s new Life Scents Collection – scented candle, plugins and room spray. Now, we don’t often use plug in air fresheners, and at first I thought it was going to be too strong, and maybe irritate the Mister’s hay fever. However, I’ve had it going in the laundry, on the low setting and it’s lovely. And now, when I’ve been out of the house, when I return the smell is much nicer! We’ve liked the Winter Moments scent, and I really like the Mystical Garden room spray. It’s quite lovely. Click through the link to read a little more about this new collection, and the different scents they have. There’ll be one you like for sure!
So, to enter the giveaway, I want to hear from you! Fill in the options below, and comment on this blog post: What is your favourite scent and why? It could be anything – food, perfume, flowers etc. Good luck with the giveaway, and please remember – sharing is caring! Let your friends know too.
This giveaway is bought to you by HomeHello.
*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED – THE WINNER IS AMY A! CONGRATULATIONS, AN EMAIL IS HEADING YOUR WAY!*
Right then people, it’s giveaway time! In fact, it’s a HomeHello House Cleaning giveaway! Now, I don’t know about you, but I often dream of the time when I might be able to pay for someone to clean the house. Oh, to not have to clean the bathroom. That would be so awesome!
So when the good people at HomeHello contacted me to offer one of my readers a three hour house cleaning voucher, how could I say no?! Have you heard of them? They are Melbourne and Sydney metro based and have an awesome website where you can easily book and pay for their services. The website lets you specify how many rooms you need done, extra cleaning required, and dates and times. It also estimates how many hours you would require, depending on what you need done. Too easy!
I know several friends who have started employing a house cleaner, and man, has it made things run smoother for them. It helps them in terms of the house being clean, obvisously, but also takes away some of that stress the housework can cause. You know, between you and your partner, the kids, the pets…… And gives them more time to do other stuff that needs doing.
So if you have been considering a cleaner, this could be your chance to try it out – three hours free!! Like I said, they’re Melbourne and Sydney metro based, so unfortunately if you are outside that area, the prize can’t be used. But refer some friends! They might win and buy you a bottle of wine if they do!!*
It’s easy – simply fill in the rafflecopter form below AND don’t forget to leave a blog post comment HERE. On this page. That is the only mandatory thing. Comment telling us the messiest thing you’ve had to clean up in your house and The Mister will choose the one that he likes best (I will remove identifying info and then let him see the answers).
*Please note, I have no control over your friends. They may not buy you a bottle of wine for referring them to this giveaway.
* This is a sponsored post. I received tickets to the opening night for myself and my family *
It’s 10 Friday’s until Christmas. Holy smokes, I don’t even know how the year has gone so quickly! Have you started planning? We haven’t, well not really. I mean, we’ve worked out where and when we are having Christmas dinners – one of them is at our house! Yikes, I really need to start planning!
It’s exciting, Christmas at our house. Ms 3.5 is now old enough to get it. She knows there will be a Santa visit, and that there will be presents and fun. And that makes it so much more exciting for us. Mr nearly 2 doesn’t get it yet, but he will love the tree decorating when we do it. And they are going to LOVE Santa’s Magical Kingdom. And I mean, flip their lids kind of love!
Have you been? We haven’t. But we’ve heard good things. It runs from 15th November until 23rd December and is being held at the Caulfield Racecourse. Frankly, it looks amazing fun! According to the information I have received, there be the following:
A magical Christmas walk-through wonderland
• Snow Castle and Activity Land
• Meet Santa and receive a free gift!
• A spectacular brand new Christmas themed circus show
• Roving Christmas characters
• A Christmas craft area where you can decorate your own gingerbread man and decorate your own Christmas decoration
• Interactive story reading with Mrs Claus
• Gingerbread land
• Amusement Rides and laughing clowns including a carousel, Santa’s Slay Ride, Ferris Wheel, Platform Ride and Australia’s Largest Super Slide!
Check out the website, it has more information. And tickets are currently on sale.
So now for the giveaway! You can win a family pass (tickets for 4, worth $130) to the opening weekend! Woo! All you need to do is comment on this blog post, and tell me, what is your favourite part of Christmas? I’ll get the Mister to choose which comment he likes the most! Also fill in the widget below. Comp ends 9th November and I will email the winner.

Are you an organised mamma? Do you make it out the door without getting shouty and sweary and mightily flustered? I don’t. I am forever doing several laps of the house gathering children, nappies, clothes, wipes, children, bags, shoes, children – why don’t they just stay in the one spot when I am trying to get out the door??!!
I am certainly not a mum that upon returning to the house, refills the nappy bag with all the essentials. I use a different bag quite often. Sometimes my handbag, sometimes an actual nappy bag. Sometimes a tote. Just depends on where we’re going, for how long and if I have one or two kids with me. So I can often be found dumping things out of one bag and into another. Adding to the frustration.
But then, I came across the opportunity to review this fabulous item! The BabyButton Mama Organiser. It has been really useful. I spend a lot less time racing about, because I’m able to keep a few nappies, wipes, a pair of knickers for Ms 3 and even a wet bag in it, and it just goes with me, which ever bag I use. It fits disposable or cloth, which is great, because I mainly use cloth. And because I can pop it in the handbag, I usually pull it out when we get home, and that makes me check what is left in there and fill it back up (well, usually).
It has a handy loop to hold on to, and even has pockets that could fit some cards, pens, a phone etc. The external fabric is easy to wipe clean and I think the whole thing could be easily put in the wash on a gentle cycle (I haven’t tried that yet though!). And it’s only $24.95.
This great little product is by BabyButton – a Melbourne based company started by Janelle, a mum who decided to do something about all those things that as mums, we can feel unprepared for – breastfeeding in public anyone? Disorganised nappy bags?! She has a great range of things, including breastfeeding covers, nappy wallets, bibs and blankets. And if you think the Mama Organiser sounds like something you could use, I’ve got some good news for you! The good people at BabyButton are letting me give away one Mama Organiser to a lucky reader! Yay! Just fill in the rafflecopter form below. And if you can’t wait, or want to purchase some of the other lovely products, I also have a special 20% off code, just for my readers! Just enter tmgiveaway at the checkout to receive 20% off your entire purchase. How great is that?!
So tell me, how do you keep organised? How do you get out the door without losing it?
