* This is a sponsored post. I received tickets to the opening night for myself and my family *
It’s 10 Friday’s until Christmas. Holy smokes, I don’t even know how the year has gone so quickly! Have you started planning? We haven’t, well not really. I mean, we’ve worked out where and when we are having Christmas dinners – one of them is at our house! Yikes, I really need to start planning!
It’s exciting, Christmas at our house. Ms 3.5 is now old enough to get it. She knows there will be a Santa visit, and that there will be presents and fun. And that makes it so much more exciting for us. Mr nearly 2 doesn’t get it yet, but he will love the tree decorating when we do it. And they are going to LOVE Santa’s Magical Kingdom. And I mean, flip their lids kind of love!
Have you been? We haven’t. But we’ve heard good things. It runs from 15th November until 23rd December and is being held at the Caulfield Racecourse. Frankly, it looks amazing fun! According to the information I have received, there be the following:
A magical Christmas walk-through wonderland
• Snow Castle and Activity Land
• Meet Santa and receive a free gift!
• A spectacular brand new Christmas themed circus show
• Roving Christmas characters
• A Christmas craft area where you can decorate your own gingerbread man and decorate your own Christmas decoration
• Interactive story reading with Mrs Claus
• Gingerbread land
• Amusement Rides and laughing clowns including a carousel, Santa’s Slay Ride, Ferris Wheel, Platform Ride and Australia’s Largest Super Slide!
Check out the website, it has more information. And tickets are currently on sale.
So now for the giveaway! You can win a family pass (tickets for 4, worth $130) to the opening weekend! Woo! All you need to do is comment on this blog post, and tell me, what is your favourite part of Christmas? I’ll get the Mister to choose which comment he likes the most! Also fill in the widget below. Comp ends 9th November and I will email the winner.
Lovely time of year, hey? Sunshine, green, getting out of the house. I think I appreciate the arrival of spring more than I ever did before, now that I have two toddlers. Who have boundless energy, that never ceases, whether they have slept or not. Whether they have eaten, or not.
Spring has bought some much needed vitamin D, lots more outside play and a long awaited back yard overhaul. The Mister has spent the last few weekends pulling down sheds, ripping up poorly located garden beds and pulling out rocks. Loads and loads of volcanic/honeycomb rocks. That have been used as borders, and have been concreted in. Why? WHY?!! Anyway, we now have loads more space for the kids to run, and for veggie patches to be laid. The kids are loving it.
We also got to attend the annual Tulip Festival, thanks to me winning a pass from Jody at Six Little Hearts! Have you seen her blog? You should check it out, she is always having amazing giveaways over there!
We went on Sunday, the windiest day for a long time. But despite the wind whipping red dust everywhere, it was beautiful and the kids had a great time. My recommendation if you are going – get there as early as you can. I think the gates open at 10. We got there at around 10.30, and got a park. When we left about two hours later, the parks were full and cars were parked up to a kilometre away, at least. There are no footpaths along that road, which makes pushing prams tricky. And the traffic was full on. It’s normally a fairly quiet country road. I know, I grew up there!! Also, hats and sunscreen – there is no shade when you are walking through the tulips. But there is lovely shade and chairs up where the food/cafe area is. And don’t forget to check out the Fairy Hollow if you go. Ms 3 LOVED it!
Spring has also bought the engagement of two lovely friends of ours – so exciting!! So we’re loving Spring time in Melbourne at the moment. Sunshine, outdoors stuff and love. What more could we want? 🙂 Tell me, what has the Spring bought to your life this year?
What’s your skin care regime? Do you have one? Is it comprehensive and regular or sporadic, like when you actually get to have a shower and the shampoo accidentally runs down your face? Hmmm, since having my second bub, I must say it has been more toward the latter. However recently, probably due to said second bub not having slept through a night for most of his 20 months, I’ve thought perhaps I could do with a bit more effort in the skin care department.
And I don’t mean all the “look 10 years younger”, “get rid of your wrinkles”, women shouldn’t age shit. I just mean, man my skin is red and/or itchy sometimes and often dry when it never used to be. I don’t want to look 10 years younger, but I wouldn’t mind looking my age, and not 10 years older 🙂
Then I came across an opportunity to trial and review the Ultra Rich Anti-aging Moisturiser from Rubifresh. Mmmmmm, it’s lovely. It smells like a spa moisturiser. Yep, awesome. And it feels just lovely – I use it at night, and I wake up with soft skin, that doesn’t feel red and itchy. Nice. It’s smooth and creamy and feels lovely. Frankly, it’s a little bit of luxury in the crazy toddler world I inhabit at the moment 🙂
Rubifresh also do skincare workshops – in your home, the office or as a fundraising event. Check out their page here. They have lots of other products as well. Another bonus, the Rubifresh products are 100% natural and organic, they use minimal packaging, as many recyclables as they can and are not tested on animals. They’re also Australian made. So it ticks a lot of boxes.
So tell me – what’s your skin care regime? Any tips for a mum who barely remembers what a straight run of good sleep feels like, and needs to care for their skin?! Leave your comments on this post!!!

We’ve started getting into Game of Thrones. Finally! It’s surprising really, for those who know me, that its taken so long! It’s full of warriors, smart women, politics, complicated relationships and intrigue. Oh and fighting and sex galore. Yes, there’s enough eye candy in GOT to suit those of both persuasions 🙂 I have always loved ‘fantasy’, books and movies, so GOT covers all the bases for me really. I think it has been a well timed intervention of sorts. I’ve found myself getting into How To Train Your Dragon and Frozen! Ahhh! Mind you, this has coincided with the kids getting into these movies, but really, it’s not good that I’m suggesting we watch them………
I was wondering how it had taken us so long and then realised, it was released around the time our first bub was born. And then we had our little boy. GOT is not easy to follow – well, not at first anyway. We’re into season two now and it’s still complicated. And by all accounts it stays that way. So just popping it on every now and then, when the kids ‘might’ sleep properly, really didn’t work initially for us. We tried. But now, most of the time, when the kids go to sleep usually get at least one, maybe two episodes in. And really, it’s not the type of show you want your three year old seeing accidentally!
So it got me to thinking. Game of Thrones is saving my brain. Yep, true story. It is a complicated, winding, intriguing and thoroughly adult story. Hallelujah! My brain sparks when I watch it and when I think about. I’m going to read the books. I’m going to read lots of books!
What else have I been ‘late to the party’ on, due to the fact that I’ve got two small children? And they all seem to be TV shows, but that’s fine. Vikings. Oh my god, that show is great, but we only just found it recently. True Detective – That has completely gone past me, but sounds like something I would get into. True Blood. I was behind the times anyway with that one, but did some major catching up. LOVE. IT.
What have you been ‘late to the party’ on? Could be anything – movies, music, news, a food fad. Hit me with them!

Do you love 1950’s and 1960’s kitsch? Do you love supporting local designers and crafters? If you do, the new Super Kitsch collection from Jubly Umph is just for you!
I have coveted pieces from Jubly Umph for a long time. And then I saw her post on FB, wondering if any bloggers would be interested in reviewing her new line. Uh, I’m a blogger and I would be tres interested! So I emailed, fully expecting a polite, “we’ve met our reviewer quota”, you know, with bloggers who are actually cool and stuff. To my super excitement, Tasha from Jubly Umph got back to me really quick, and sent some stuff asap. Woo!
Don’t you love the packaging? I’m a sucker for cool packaging. And when I opened it up – oh la la! Three awesome pieces, that I love! The Tape Measure Bow Brooch is just fabulous – I love the size of it and anything sewing always gets under my skin!
The Flamboyant Flamingo Pendant is just that – flamingo, cocktail umbrellas and pineapples. What more could you want in a kitsch piece? I have found myself wearing this piece all the time, and getting lots of comments on it.
The final is a super cute pair of Red Bow earring studs. I don’t have a photo of these on yet, but check out the Jubly-Umph page for photos and details.
I really love these pieces, and I have purchased products from Jubly-Umph for my sister before. I will definitely buy again – the quality and the pricing is fabulous. Go check them out!
* I received these pieces from Jubly-Umph in order to review them. The opinions written here are mine and mine alone. If I didn’t like the pieces, I wouldn’t have written about them. *
